Integrative Wellness and Medspa Helps Patients Glow Inside and Out
Embodhi Integrative Wellness and MedSpa of Hillsborough County
Aimee Talbott, a family nurse practitioner and founder of Embodhi Integrative Wellness and MedSpa, is redefining wellness with her integrative approach to healthcare. Based in the city of Lutz, her practice focuses on uncovering the root cause of health imbalances and diseases, offering services that combine functional medicine with holistic care.
From direct primary care, medical weight loss, hormone optimization, and therapy to aesthetic services, the medspa’s comprehensive approach also includes Core Belief Alignment, a coaching technique that bridges the mind, body, and spirit connection.
“To have a patient come here, who has been told, ‘you’re going to be on this medication for the rest of your life, this is normal, you’re going to have to live with it’ and then be able to hold space for them and say, you know what, your body knows how to heal. To see them come off of medications, come off blood pressure medications, come off statins, and be a more vibrant version of themselves; it is an absolute privilege and that’s what we love to do here,” Aimee Talbott expressed with a smile.
Driven by a passion for helping patients achieve long-lasting health, Talbott launched her business to provide solutions that extend beyond traditional medicine. “I chose to launch this type of business because I’m so passionate about helping individuals live their best life. I really believe that health and wellbeing are our natural state and people are so ready, willing, and able now to make changes in their life. They’re ready to do the work; they’re ready to take responsibility for what they put in their mouth, to take responsibility for their mindset. So, I get to be a part of that process to help facilitate and offer them resources,” Aimee Talbott said.
To turn her vision into reality, Talbott turned to the Florida SBDC at USF and business consultant Christine Jaros for professional guidance.
“I had the skillset but as far as the business information, I really didn’t know where to start so, just as far as a business plan template, all the links, where I would need to file to get an LLC, information on different banks that are out there as well as different tax consultants that are available and training,” Aimee Talbott mentioned. With support in business planning, market research, filing for an LLC, and understanding financial resources, Talbott was equipped to navigate the complexities of starting a wellness business.
“It was all there, packaged so neatly, and the big part for me was receiving the template for the financial plan because that’s what’s the newest for me and being able to know how to plan for payroll and know what I need to be able to apply for a loan. I’m continuously using it,” she added.
Since opening, Embodhi Integrative Wellness and MedSpa has experienced significant growth. “Our business has already grown since working with the Florida SBDC at USF. First of all, we’re here at this location. We were able to put this together within two months and it has everything to do with the planning that we started all the way back in January with the business development plan,” Aimee Talbott said. “We’ve also been able to create positions here. The next thing is, we have been able to double our revenues from just starting based on all of that research that went into that business plan,” she added.
The business owner was also very proud to speak about the outpour of community support they received when opening their doors, stating, “Our biggest success so far was experiencing the community that opening this business has brought to my door. You know, the people that even came in from the chamber to our ribbon cutting ceremony and welcomed us. For me, that success is the sense of community,” Aimee Talbott said.
As the practice expands, Talbott remains committed to leveraging Florida SBDC at USF resources to ensure continued success. “I’d be very interested in learning more about becoming certified as a woman-owned business and being able to support other women in that process as well. And then, as we grow and expand, there’s going to be more questions on how to do that successfully. I plan on using the service [Florida SBDC at USF business guidance service] to connect with funding and then to just keep on growing responsibly,” Talbott expressed.
Talbott encourages other entrepreneurs to take advantage of the Florida SBDC at USF’s expertise and guidance while putting in the work to find business success.
“I would tell other small businesses, don’t hesitate to reach out to make an appointment. You will be shocked and awed and delighted that this service is free and you’re able to connect with mentors that have been in the business industry, who know their market, that bring all of this expertise right to you and again, for free. Now of course, you’re going to have to do some work, you’re going to get some homework assignments, so you need to be ready and willing to do the work, but if you’re willing to show up they are too,” she said.
Through hard work and strategic support, Embodhi Integrative Wellness and Medspa’s business owner, Aimee Talbott, is making a meaningful impact in the world of wellness while never forgetting to mention those who have helped her get there.
“I would really like to offer my heartfelt thanks to Chrissy Jaros and to Greg Manning for your expertise and for sharing that with me,” Aimee Talbott said. “I would also like to thank my husband, Stacy Groves for all of his support during this process as well as my children. Zain Bali, my oldest son who is also our marketing director, my mother Charmaine Bartlett, and also, we have a business partner in Ohio, Jason Jutte, and his sister, Elizabeth Kill, who showed the way as a woman-owned business mentor. I’m just so grateful to them for all of their support, as well, in making this happen,” she added.
