Artistic Tile Contractor Lays the Foundation for Success in Tampa Bay

Blog, Featured Success Stories, Success Stories

J Sanchez Design, Inc. of Hillsborough County

For over two decades, Josue Sanchez, owner of J Sanchez Design, Inc., has been a trusted tile and marble contractor in the Tampa Bay area. Starting his career in tile installation in 1997, he turned his passion into a business in 2003, incorporating J Sanchez Design, Inc. to bring his expertise to projects both large and small. From residential renovations to major commercial installations, J Sanchez Design, Inc. has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and exceptional service.

Since working with tile, Sanchez has shown his passion and creativity in a way that has received praise within his target audience. “When I was a young guy, I would do stuff with my hands. I was on machines before I did tile and then I started doing tile on the weekends to make extra money. Then I started being full-time. See that I can get my ideas and my customers ideas and make a product,” he mentioned.

Despite his years of experience, Sanchez sought guidance to take his business to the next level. He turned to the Florida SBDC at Hillsborough County one day after attending a workshop at the Collaborative Entrepreneur Center and began working with business consultant Retta Parsons.

“It’s been maybe a year since I been receiving these emails and trying to come here until one day I say, I’m going to go and I come in here and they was showing how you can do business with Hillsborough County, and I come in this afternoon and they say, ‘hey, anybody want to get a consulting for business?’ and I put myself on the list and she called me later on,” he shared. Sanchez mentioned how grateful he was for receiving those emails and attending that day.

Through personalized consultations, Parsons helped Sanchez refine his ideas and develop actionable strategies to implement in his business. “By the time I met Retta, here in a workshop in SBDC Hillsborough County, she helped me develop all my ideas to bring it into action in my business plan,” he said.

The results speak for themselves. Since working with the Florida SBDC at Hillsborough County, J Sanchez Design, Inc. has experienced notable sales growth and secured larger contracts. “Since I start working with Retta and Florida [SBDC] in Hillsborough County, you guys helped me increase my sales and my profit,” Sanchez remarked.

Sanchez then goes on to mention how he’s been able to implement what he’s learned and turn into success. “My biggest success is being able to trust in myself and develop the ideas that Retta gives to me, to how I approach and conduct my business in a professional way,” he added.

Looking ahead, Sanchez plans to continue leveraging the Florida SBDC’s resources to scale his business further and spread the word so that his colleagues can grow as well. “I will recommend [SBDC] Florida Hillsborough County, Retta, and their consultants, and their workshops to any of my colleagues in business where they can learn and grow and find other ways to grow and profit from their business and help other people,” he mentioned.

When asked what advice he would give to other small business owners regarding the Florida SBDC at Hillsborough County, Sanchez replied, “I would tell other small businesses about Florida [SBDC] Hillsborough County, that don’t be afraid, they’re here to help.”

“I’m real grateful for [SBDC] Hillsborough County, that they help small businesses develop and grow,” he concluded.
