Orthodontist Office Still Smiling with Bridge Loan

Featured News, Success Stories

Everything About Smiles of Polk County

Everything About SmilesDr. Ilan Abramowitz operates Everything About Smiles in Bartow. The practice focuses on creating beautiful smiles, without extracting any teeth. While the office was spared physical damage after Hurricane Irma, it caused a major computer glitch that took an estimated $25,000 to fix. The hurricane also stemmed the flow of business as clients were focused on repairing and recovering from their own damages. This led Abramowitz to apply for a State of Florida Emergency Bridge Loan with the assistance of the Florida SBDC at University of South Florida.

When asked about his experience with the storm and the assistance received, he recalled:

What type of damage occurred?
Hurricane Irma caused a little glitch with our computers, which pulled all of our charts and images. Fortunately for us we were able to slide by with no trees landing on our roof.

How will the Bridge Loan help?
This Bridge loan is huge. Before this Bridge loan, we spent the last few months having to eliminate some of the data that we needed. This will help us now review our cases and be able to show patients what they looked like when they were younger compared to what they look like now. It’s amazing how much it costs to save our memories today.

How was the Florida SBDC at USF helpful during this process?
Karen’s been extremely helpful, so helpful that I think I only made contact with her once throughout this whole process.
