Selma Canas, international trade expert, joins SBDC at USF

00246October 4, 2013 (TAMPA) – Selma Canas joined the Florida Small Business Development Center at University of South Florida as a certified business analyst this week.

Canas is a NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) and the International Small Business Consultant for the FSBDC.

She joined the SBDC in 2010 and is responsible for guiding small businesses through the complexities of developing export marketing and international expansion plans, providing one-on-one consulting and teaching courses on basic international trade and a biannual Florida export series.

Canas brings her own business experience to the position, having owned two businesses herself. She has more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing and customer service in a variety of industries, including freight forwarding, real estate and advertising.

Canas obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of South Florida, is a member of Toastmasters International. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
